Product Description

Alpha-lipoic acid is a light yellow powder crystal, almost odorless. Solubility in water is small, about 1 g/L (20°C). Soluble in 10% NaOH solution, soluble in aliphatic solvents. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, chloroform and ether. Lipoic acid has a chiral center and therefore has both R and S configurations. Natural lipoic acid is a white crystal with only R configuration, while synthetic lipoic acid is a mixture of equal proportions of R and S configurations, and is a yellowish powder substance that is very soluble in lipid solvents.
