(-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate(EGCG) is isolated and extracted from green tea, white crystalline powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents.(-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate is the most effective active component of catechins, accounting for about 8%~13% of the gross weight of green tea, and is also the most abundant component of catechins. (-)-Epicatechin gallate is the ester formed by α-conjugated phenolic benzopyran and gallic acid, which has the generality of phenolic antioxidant, and has 6 neighbouring phenolic hydroxyl groups in its molecular structure, so it has many properties superior to those of other catechins.
