Product Description

Soysterol is an organic compound with molecular formula C29H48O. It belongs to phytosterol. The pure product is colorless crystal. [α]D20-51° (chloroform). Soluble in general organic solvents, insoluble in water. Isolated from soybean and poisonous lentil. It is abundant in soybeans, and others such as poisonous lentils, cocoa butter and rapeseed oil are also present. It is usually not absorbed and utilized by animals. It is produced by acetylation and bromination of unsaponifiable substances in soybean oil, and then extraction of insoluble tetrabromides by separation of ether-acetic acid mixed solvent, debromination and saponification with zinc and acetic acid.
